SWIM RIDE RUN

The Equathon Challenge is a three-event competition consisting of Swimming, Show Jumping and Cross-Country Running. Ten years ago the Interschool competitions were mainly showjumping / showing and dressage. Who would have thought an event could combine horse riding swimming and running. The latest trend in Interschool events is now searching for the combinations who can  SWIM RIDE RUN in one day definitely a massive ask from the participants.  Balcombe Grammar Interschool Equathon  was run under the auspices of Modern Pentathlon Victoria Inc- SWIM RIDE RUN.  Competitors compete in all three phases either as an individual competitor or as a team of three. To make it even tougher only one Individual claimed the top prize of having a personal Showjumping  Lesson with Wesley’. Twelve year old Ebony Watson from Clyde in Victoria worked her way to the very top to be crowned the Individual winner over the three phrases. What a massive feat. Horseland were one of the major sponsors of the event and donated many other great prizes plus a meet greet with Team Joyce at their stud Lals Haven.

Ebony rode a chestnut named Yarni, her mother Jo has educated and campaigned this horse for the past 4 years and now decided to hand the reins over to Ebony. Her elder brother Sydney proudly came along to help strap, video and meet Oaks Volta. The Watson’s are definitely a very keen knowledgeable Eventing family who have a great passion for horses.

The weather was not so kind for the first ten minutes of the lesson both Ebony and Wes braved the conditions. Soon the rain disappeared which meant Jo, Sydney and myself could leave the undercover shed to take some great action shots and videos. Ebony tried very hard to do everything that was asked of her.
