Team Joyce didn’t breed any foals last year – and, honestly, it felt very strange!
For so many years, our breeding season has revolved around collecting, inseminating, watching pregnancies develop and, of course, those long nights spent foaling down. So having a year without foals was certainly a different experience.
But it has also given us the opportunity to concentrate on the youngsters we already have and watch them mature.
One of those youngsters is LH Diarvel, a very tall mare who currently stands at around 16.2hh – and she’s still filling out!
Wes has been riding Diarvel and she is certainly starting to show us what she is capable of. She is a very flashy performance prospect, with the most amazing movement – and yes, she can jump too!
As she continues to develop, nutrition is an important part of her journey. We feed Diarvel Barastoc Calm Performer, along with a small amount of Barastoc Breed N Grow.
Because she is still a young, developing mare, adding Breed N Grow gives us confidence that she is receiving the essential vitamins and minerals she needs to support her continued growth and development, without needing to feed large quantities.
It’s exciting to watch these youngsters grow into the horses we imagined they could become – and while we may not have bred a foal last year, there is certainly plenty happening behind the scenes at Team Joyce!
He is enjoying the education of LH Vanzy one of our LH favs that’s for sure. She looks so much like Oaks Volta. Wes also spends time handling the youngsters they will be ready to break in during Spring.

Tiffany is enjoying her LH Princess Dior stepping her up to 1.10m this season. She also rides her full sister LH Princess Daenerys who is also showing lots of talent on the flat and jumping. Team Joyce are working towards competing at the Australian Jumping Championships in December at Boneo Park. Both mares enjoy Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash because we know it provides all the essential elements for safe conditioning plus they absolutely love Barastoc Complete Performer. It also promotes a calm temperament and contains a natural equine antacid. There is nothing left in the feed bins at Lals Haven Warmbloods.
So, what’s next?
Well… you’ll just have to follow along and see!
