Team Joyce are incredibly fortunate to have the pleasure of spending so much time with our four grandchildren and their beloved ponies. Jonty adores Snowy, Millie loves Nev, and Myles and Imogen MyMy and Cav.
The laughs, excitement and emotions these little partnerships bring are priceless and bring so much joy to all of us.
Learning to ride is all about finding balance, and once they have that foundation, it’s amazing to watch them take off — gaining confidence as they learn to walk, trot and eventually canter independently. Watching their confidence grow is one of our favourite things.
Of course, feeding our prized little unicorns is a very delicate process! We have an abundance of rich pasture here in South Gippsland, so we are constantly monitoring their weight, condition and behaviour to make sure they stay healthy and happy.
For our ponies, we keep their hard feed very simple. On average they currently receive 150g of Barastoc Calm Performer once a day, along with 100g of Barastoc Fibre-Beet Mash and grass hay.
This combination has been a real game changer for us — helping us maintain healthy, happy ponies who are in the right condition and, most importantly, are settled, willing and receptive when the kids climb aboard.
For us, it’s about finding the right balance between their pasture, their individual needs and a feed program that supports them without overdoing it. After all, these little unicorns have some very important jobs to do!
