Oaks Volta is definitely our favorite here at Lals Haven, every day he urns for attention and catches our eye when ever we walk passed because he is constantly putting himself in heads way or making noises in his stable to get some bodies attention. When we put him out in his paddock and during the day you walk passed to go to the jumps paddock he runs flat out to the gate and whinnies at you! His personality is just lovely and how could one not love him so much.
Wes has been riding him about twice a week just ticking him over slowly and keeping his mind amused and busy. We have decided he actually wants to be handled in some way , more than just leading in and out of the stable he wants stimulation , it make him extremely happy so we do what we know makes him content.
We hope to bring you all something a little special next month but first we must see if Volta is happy to participate so stay tuned for August. During the month of June Volta was wormed with an Equimax worm paste and trimmed as well.

Volta’s measurements for June
Poll to muzzle: 71cm no change
Chin to shoulder (neck length) : 75cm no change
Mane length: 28cm ( mane was cut December ) increased 2cm, looking to long!
Back length: wither to top dock: 126cm no change
Tail length top of dock to end tail: 78cm ( after being chewed ) increased by 2 cm
Hind length top of coronet band to hock: 69cm no change
Front leg length top of coronet to elbow: 97cm no change
Hind quarters: from ground to top of rump: 164cm no change
From wither : ground to top of wither: 163cm =16 hh no change
So we have noticed that each month the mane and tail definitely grow about 2cm. It is also interesting to note during the colder months in winter time and being ridden a few times a week Volta has lost weight . His belly has thinned down but he still has fabulous top line and his neck is still quite thick. The Barastoc Competitor along with the KER Equi-Jewel are working very well to keep Volta in top body score condition even while being ridden under saddle.
