The 31st Mount Gambier Showjumping Festival
Team Joyce had a lovely time at Mt Gambier for Easter. They have travelled to this particular show every year because of everything they have to offer. The facilities to camp are five star”, good power and water for the whole show, plenty of room for making horse yards and camping. The velodrome used as the jumping arena is always perfect! They have two warm up areas which also have nice sandy soil which gives your horses every opportunity to have a solid warm up before the class. The Mt Gambier showjumping club committee are very well organised with draws and class structure. This particular show has been running for 31 years and still going strong. Team Joyce the only things missing were Sarah and Tiffany. On the Friday night the club put on a dinner over in the footy rooms and this encourages everyone to get together. Wesley only took LH King Arthur as we have sold LH Beckham. Arthur loved all the attention of two strappers and for his first time in the velodrome his behaviour was spot on. We arrived Friday about 7.00pm and still had plenty of day light to make our 1 yard.

On the Saturday night people can just walk to the dinner bar and have a lovely well priced meal that always dishes up a plate full of good heart food. It is called, “ Bobs Bar “.

On the Monday the hype is all about the 1.40m Championship and the Blue Lakes Stakes Futurity. These are very exciting classes to watch even if you’re not a competitor. Wes had a go in the Futurity but had 2 rails so no placing in this class for Team Joyce. We left he grounds at about 4.00pm for the seven hour trek home to South Gippsland feeling relaxed and very satisfied with our show. “ Congratulations “to all the placegetters for the duration of the show.
