Our very first pygmy goat show

Our very first pygmy goat show was an enormous amount of fun for so many involved. I had no idea what I was doing in planning to prep our beautiful pygmys for the event. It was the 129th Korumburra Agricultural Show and the first time for the committee adding pygmy goats to the program. So really lots of firsts for everyone !

We started feeding our goats extra to gain good topline and practising with leading and tying up. Not all lead perfectly on the day at the ideal time but that was to be expected. What they did do well was put their best hoof forward and all of them came home with a prize! Washing started at 6.30am and it was a warm morning which helped with them drying. Loaded the does in the float and bucks on the back of the ute. Arrived at 12.30pm to settle them into the pens. Judging started at 5pm and finished at 9.30pm.

There were so many highlights attending our very first pygmy goat show , and one was trying to walk thru the large crowds with our pygmys to take back to the pen and grab another for the next class. So many people patting – holding and observing everyone’s gorgeous pymgys on display.

That award at the end was the pinnacle of the night for me. To think our pygmys shone so brightly. It was very warming to my heart ?

So where to now you ask – well we are very busy with does kidding this month. We have our ladies in the birthing suite being pampered and closely monitored.

It will be exciting to see what kids arrive.
