Australian Showjumping Championships

Team Joyce attended the Australian Showjumping Championships held at Werribee. Wes rode Oaks Volta in the Emerald Series on Friday and Tiffany entered LH Johnny in the Future Stars Series on the Saturday. We were very fortunate to camp at Andrew and Lucy Long’s property which is only a 40 minute drive from Werribee. They have a lovely well set out horse property with indoor stables so Volta and Johnny could relax in comfort. Their was only one dilemma and it was having to leave Oaks Volta loaded on the truck all day while at the show. We left Johnny on with him to keep him company.

Team Joyce spent some time at the Horseland stand checking out all the new Spring clothing range featuring the top brands like Animo & HV Polo plus many more. Chantelle who is from the Geelong Store is the guru of the Petrie boots so if your looking for some new fancy well made long riding boots these are worth a look at. And the helmets the range is enormous so make sure you drop into your closest Horseland store to have a look ! Horseland have supported the Australian Showjumping Championships for the past 5 years by having a trade stand ring side for people to enjoy some real good retail therapy.

Wes could not wipe the smile off his face after jumping two clean rounds in the Emerald Series class on Friday afternoon out of 135 combinations. We even sat down in our truck to chat about it. We are so pleased with Oaks Volta he did not touch a fence and did not look like having one down.

Tiffany and LH Johnny went in the Open 1.25m on the Friday afternoon just for a warm up class. Johnny jumped super’ with only 1 rail he was definitely feeling good for the Future Stars class tomorrow morning.

Tiffany was number 6 in the draw on Saturday morning so it was an early start for us all. Wes and Tiffany walked the course and decided that the combination was short so she would need to sit up and try to bring him back before 6C ‘ then the left hand turn to 7 would also need tactical riding but the rest was pretty much ok if they can keep a good forward canter. They warmed up really well and rode into the arena looking keen and confident. They sailed easily around the course and finished with 2 rails 6C and 7. The trap was there to be had ‘ Tiffany came out of the arena smiling widely patting her Johnny. They did their very best and came away feeling very pleased. Wes and I made sure she realised we were very proud. To think of how little she has time to ride one could not have asked for a better result. Time to celebrate …..Team Joyce had a ball and our horses were terrific.

Thank you Andrew and Lucy for having us. Oh I nearly forgot to mention , on the Thursday morning Wes and I awoke to a new foal for the season. LH Vienna’ a stunning filly out of Backall Park Chiquita by our Oaks Volta. She is a real beauty …..to see some pictures
