Team Joyce enjoyed our first dressage competition for 2020. Bennison Adult Riding Club always offer such a well organised very relaxed event. The grounds are nestled in a very nice area down past Foster. Both tests were ridden on the sand arenas.
We were up at the crack of dawn even Wes & Josh joined us as well. A real lovely family affair. Our times were close which helped, Sarah and LH Albert rode in Level 1 just after 9am and I was trying my first Official Level 2 just after 10am.
With Sarah working full time and quite long hours she did not really have a lot of spare time to ride but she did what she could. That is what everybody contends with and our passion for horses keeps us all aiming for different things. We both love to go out competing and look for close locations. Bennison is about 1hr and 15min drive through the lovely hills of South Gippsland.
Sarah & Albi warming up
Sarah was extremely happy with how Albi responded to her aids. He was relaxed happy and enjoyed both tests. They look like a perfect match breaking once in the canter. My Lil was an absolute star. We have heaps to learn but improving every time. I am hoping to get another 10 years out of her. I struggle with many things and work tirelessly at home on little areas. Today we came away with many little positives. It does keep you motivated when you chat about your movements and recap on past years.
Sitting around having freshly made food and that awesome steamed soggy dim sim chatting with lovely people also makes the day out very enjoyable. It was lovely to catch up with other riders some we have known for many years. Congratulations to all competitors and thank you Bennison Adult Riding Club. See you again next time 🙂
Great article and photos. Well done both of you. Love the photo of Trisha &Lil having a cuddle. I hope you get another 10 years out of her too. Precious horse.
Aww you are so very kind Helen. Always have been. Thank you so very much. Take care lovely lady <3
